“Face
II Face”– Monday 26 September –
7-11pm
CIRCA
invites all its members and their guests to our
September get together at The Loft Bar at The Yard
Bar, Soho, London W1. A large glass of wine
on the house for all members and their guests between
7-8pm. It will be a great night as The
Yard Bar is spread over two floors and has a unique
enclosed open air courtyard and terrace. The Yard
Bar’s drinks prices are very reasonable with
a bottle of House Wine @ £13 per bottle. A
glass of wine is £3.30 and a glass of beer
£3.30. There is no ticket charge or entrance
charge for this event for members or their guests.
Admission is on a first come first served basis.
Please note that The Yard Bar’s customers
will also be there on the evening but you will be
able to identify CIRCA members and their guests
by discreet blue lapel badges that will be given
out on the night on arrival. Guest List places are

THE
GAY AND LESBIAN AWARDS
The
Savoy Hotel, London - Friday 30 September
The Gay and
Lesbian Awards (GALA’s) is a new concept that
will celebrate individual success and at the same
time promote a positive image of the gay & lesbian
community.
Culminating
in a glittering black-tie award ceremony on the
30 September at The Savoy Hotel, tickets to this
high profile event are strictly limited and cost
£3,000 per table of 10. A limited number of

tegories
are: Shadow Lounge Artist of the Year, Barclays
Business Person of the Year, Lehman Brothers Entrepreneur
of the Year, Irwin Mitchell Performing Artist of
the Year, Circa-Club Media Person of the Year as
well as Lifetime Achievement Award. The Jury includes
David Furnish, Dep Asst Commissioner Brian Paddick
and Anna Whowell. This glittering event promises
to become an annual fixture in the “society”
calendar and celebrities attending include: Alexander
McQueen Stephen Fry, Patrick Cox, Gerri Halliwell,
Liz Hurley, Jack & Kelly Osborne, Lord Wahid
Alli, Lulu, Tracey Emin, Janet Street Porter, Tara
Palmer-Tompkinson, Stephen Gately, Philip Treacy,

announced.
The Shadow Lounge, renowned for
its themed parties has created the ultimate extravaganza.
Working with the beautiful art deco scenery at The
Savoy, they are creating a fabulous 1930’s
ball ….going back in time where glamour meets
high society and Noel Coward, Cole Porter and Marlene
Dietrich set the trends for London’s gay cocktail
circuit.

WOULD LIKE TO KNOW...
What
do you think of the way gay people are portrayed
on television?
Around
25 million households in the UK have a television
license. Of these over 6% are gay people. Stonewall
wants to know what you think about how gay people
are represented on TV, and the way that its television
programmes affect your life and your community.
The research is being carried out for Stonewall
by Gill Valentine and Charlotte Kenten from the
University of Leeds. Group discussions are taking
place all around the country. If you would like

those members who have not completed their Member
Profile there is a default setting in place which
includes details sourced from your Membership Application
Form including: occupation and town of residence.
Without a Profile Header you will not be found by
other members so upload your personal messages and
photographs (head and shoulder images - 10kb jpeg)
and maximise your chances to connect with other
members.
