Strangers In The Buff” is a fascinating mix of photographs and amusing tales told by Allan Warren, a self confessed urbanite and spirited, spontaneous character, who has spent his life living in Los Angeles, New York and his native London. His philosophy is “You need never be lonely if you live in a City and can speak the language”. For more than 20 years he has done just that. “We specialise in quality guided tours and our 2008 tour was a great success so come and join us Venetian Style on our 2009 Gay & Lesbian tour” says Mino, Managing Director of London based Adam and Steve Travel.  For a romantic and fun city break, Venice’s charm won’t fail you as it has been attracting Gay visitors for centuries. The hotel is set amongst the labyrinth of canals and bridges of the Lido, best explored by foot and bursting with a wonderful array of culture and history.

During your city break, Venice’s art scene is a must for those who wish to see a first class collection of work, including the masters of art works housed in the Galleria dell’Accademia. So in this spring visit you can combine cultural elements to remember with the fine sands of the Venice Lido whilst enjoying the party atmosphere and parade of Carnival and the costumes.

THE DAILY CIRCA: QUOTATIONS OF THE DAY

Keep up to date make the Daily Circa your home page; World, Uk, Gay and Circa news, horoscopes, cartoon, quotes of the day, this day in history and much more,

Truman Capote  - Failure is the condiment that gives success its flavor.

Noel Coward - It is discouraging how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit.

Montgomery Clift - The only line that's wrong in Shakespeare is 'holding a mirror up to nature.' You hold a magnifying glass up to nature. As an actor you just enlarge it enough so that your audience can identify with the situation. If it were a mirror, we would have no art.

Quentin Crisp  - Fashion is what you adopt when you don't know who you are. …more….

Once upon a time in the late 70’s an ambitious, geeky, literate and politically left-wing group called Gay Icebreakers got together and decided to open the UK’s first ever gay bookshop. Founder, Ernest Hole, wanted to choose a name that beamed out across a then still largely prejudiced society and declared “we’re here, we’re queer, we’re staying and, look…now we’re getting smart about it, too.” Taken from the title of a 1950’s Ivor Novello musical, it may sound a little provincial today, but Gay’s the Word was more than just the name for a bookshop; it was a pioneering statement of deliberate visibility in days dark with prejudice. GTW was to be a lighthouse of ideas in a time when we were more used to doing our thinking in closets ...more...

DOMENICO DOLCE and STEFANO GABBANA : GAY ICON

Alexander McqueenDomenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were partners in life as well as in business. Their personal relationship, which commenced soon after their meeting in the early 1980s, was well documented and they spoke freely about their home life as well as their business partnership in interviews. In February 2005 Dolce and Gabbana broke up as lovers. According to Gabbana, they "had been drifting apart for about five years" prior to the split. However they resumed their romantic relationship in 2008.

They have successfully channelled the power of the front row, the ad campaign and celebrity friends to their advantage with friends like Naomi Campbell and Kylie Minogue. Dolce & Gabbana's clothes are worn by a whole host of celebrities: Madonna, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Isabella Rossellini, Demi Moore, and Nicole Kidman, to name but a few. They are known for donating clothes to and designing for stars they like. To those they do not like, they say "there is a shop."

Once dubbed the "Gilbert and George of Italian fashion", Dolce and Gabbana gave their fashion interests a musical turn in 1996, by recording their own single, in which they intoned the words "D&G is love" over a techno beat. By1997, their company reported a turnover of £400 million, prompting both designers to announce that they planned to retire by the age of 40 - a promise they happily did not keep. ...more...

SPENCER:THE SECRETARIAL DIARIES
Edited Highlights !!! Adrian Gillan

Gay BlogsStrangely unsurprising to see Joshua dropping Karl off – a tad noisily, and for all to see – at the Monday morning mews meet. Those two ex-flames are sparking up again, now Karl and Kev have sundered. Amused to read in papers back at flat, over lunch, that 40-year old Ozzy icon Kylie Minogue OBE has told The Sun that early 20th Century openly bisexual screen star Tallulah Bankhead (1902 - 1968) - whose lovers included Joan Crawford and Marlene Dietrich - would have made her ideal lesbian: “I’d go gay for her. She was a fascinating and exotic woman. God knows I can’t get a man — so maybe I should cross over.” Conversely, singer Cyndi Lauper in The Times. “My sister was gay, my best friends were gay, so I figured I had to be gay. So I did everything they did. I tried kissing girls. But it didn’t feel right for me and eventually I was forced to come out as a heterosexual.”

And, as his autobiography My Life, My Way goes on sale, 67-year old Christian pop legend Sir Cliff Richard confesses he has shared his life with a former Roman Catholic priest for the past 7 years – and is tired of the speculation surrounding his sexual proclivities: “That was seven years ago and our arrangement has worked out really well. John now spends most of his time looking after my properties. I am sick to death of the media’s speculation about [my sexuality]. What business is it of anyone else’s what any of us are as individuals..
