CIRCA-CLUB MEMBERS – CHRISTMAS PARTY

After what I can say was nothing short of an excellent November drinks party (Photo Gallery) we are looking forward to our Christmas drinks party and our last party for 2007.

Get in the Christmas Spirit and join us for a complimentary glass of wine (for members and guests who arrive between 7-8pm) and a few goodies. Oh how we all love a freebie! Also Santa has supplied us with a sack of Goodies and your Hosts Curtis, Jean Francois, Ian and Markus will be dipping deep into Santa’s sack for special lucky dip winners… (I wonder what he’ll find eh).

Our members and guests are all ages and professions, a great place to network, flirt and make new friends. So chat, flirt or talk shop its up to you !! A Bistro Menu is available in the Dover Bar and Piano Lounge and includes such favourites as: …. the oriental platter (£8) … eggs benedict (£5) … crayfish, watercress and avocado salad (£12) …. club sandwich ( £8) … mushroom risotto (£10) … smoked salmon and scrambled eggs (£11) … fresh linguni with pesto (£8). We will also be hosting a Private View of Paintings by Andrew Bottomley who as well as being inspired by beauty and grace finds lunacy, madness and craziness attractive and is drawn to all the things that exist outside of 'normal' conscious thought !!!

NO SEX PLEASE WE’RE GAY

Sex, sex, sex: has the whole world gone bonking? Adrian Gillan meets the silent, simmering gays who - for various reasons - couldn’t give a f***.

Some are born not wanting it, some end up not getting it, and some just have a lack of sex thrust upon them! Some chose it, some don’t. Some try it first, some never do. Some are happy, some are not.

But they are all “celibate”, united in not having regular sex. Many are queer, and they’ve had enough! They’re sick of a sniggering global gay community subtext that those not conforming to a rampant sexual stereotype are weird, sad and lonely weirdoes.

Recent surveys show as many as 10-15% of all adults admit they’ve been celibate for at least the past year – probably an underestimate since people invariably claim to have more sex than they actually do. From the Pope to Cliff, through Isaac Newton and Simone Weil – they’re all not at it. Why, even Morrissey was openly celibate for many years! And as for the real gays!

Little point giving up Switchboard shift now day job’s all but gone. Desperate call in, Tuesday eve. Young guy. Just recovering from mental breakdown. Only just starting to admit to self is all due to gym addiction and exercise dependency; or at least their root causes. Not uncommon amongst queers, methinks
