After an excellent March drinks party (Photo Gallery) we are looking forward to our April Drinks Party, so come and join us and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine on arrival (7pm-8pm).

The April CIRCA DRINKS PARTY has the exclusive use of the St Stephens Club on 1st April (7-12) and, by special arrangement, guests can collect Passes to Shadow Lounge, Europe’s No 1 gay members club.

So come and join us and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine (7-8pm). Drinks will be available in the Bar and the Queenborough Room and Supper will be available in The Garden Room. Enjoy the spirit of the original Victorian townhouse and its lush views over the garden and St James Park.

Club drinks are: Wine: £4.50 per glass, £15.50 per bottle, Beer: £3.50, Spirits: single £3.50 (inclusive of mixer), Soft drinks: £2.25, Bottled Water: £1.00 glass.

Renowned for the quality of its food, Head Chef Alex Wood has created a 2/3 course menu (£20/£25 inc vat + service charge) with delicious choices.

From 1931 to 1939 Vaughan worked as a trainee artist for the Lintas advertising agency and painted in his spare time. During the Second World War he was a conscientious objector on humanitarian grounds and was conscripted into the Pioneer Corps in the British Army (1941-1946) Vaughan was fluent in German so was also employed as an interpreter for the prisoners of war in Yorkshire. He had access to many conscripts and prisoners of war whom he used as models. In 1942 he had his first one-man show of drawings at the Lefevre Gallery. Publisher John Lehmann commissioned him to do book illustrations and book jackets, and also encouraged him to write for Horizon and Penguin New Writing. Peter Watson introduced him to Neo-Romantic painters such as Graham Sutherland and John Minton. Keith Vaughan was influenced by their work. From 1946 to 1948 he taught at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts. and at the Central School of Arts and Crafts from 1948 to 1957.He painted the Theseus mural decoration in the Festival of Britain Dome of Discovery in 1951.. ...more...
