CURTIS IN THE CHAT LOUNGE
Monday
27 February – 8 – 9pm
Up
for a chat? Curtis Gordon will be hosting a chat
debating THE TRUTH ABOUT THE NEW CIVIL PARTNERSHIP
LAW …Many people feel that the Civil Partnership
recently introduced is a massive step in the right
direction for gay and lesbian rights, I fail to
agree. The government wants homosexual couples to
have the same rights, but reading more closely into
the legislation, one can see that they are not entirely
the same as marriage.
What is really being offered? Civil Partnership
is not a marriage, a Civil Partnership means that
couples are not recognised as partners but as relatives.
Marriage law contains over 4,500 co-habitation,
inheritance and pension benefit rights. However,
the Civil Partnership Act contains only 10. Heterosexual
couples cannot register under the Civil Partnership
Act. Where is the equality? Is accepting such an
unequal law directed at homosexual couples fair?
We should all demand true equality, which is what
was campaigned for in the first place! Join Curtis
for an extensive insight into this and put forward
your opinion in the debate.

RIGHTS FUNDRAISER - Monday 20 March

Gillan, spokesman for the PTHRF, said: "Peter's
human rights campaigns have gone global. His successes

to raise enough money to get Peter a fully equipped
office and full-time staff support". The 20th

will help raise some of the extra funds they need

to you. Places are limited. Tickets cost £20
(£10 concessions; £35 for two) and include
